A LEADING machinery supplier has struck a fiveyear deal to stage a biennial show after the success of its inaugural event.

Regional specialist Lloyd reported a host of “quality”

inquiries as it displayed an array of the latest machinery at The Northern Echo Arena, in Darlington.

Even a first-day deluge failed to affect the show, thanks to the hard-standing at the home of Mowden Park Rugby Club.

Sales manager George Lloyd said: “The venue has been absolutely fantastic with a large, practical outdoor hard-standing and a useful indoor area, which was greatly appreciated when the heavens opened.

“Hundreds of people came to visit us over the two days and we had some highquality inquiries as a result, so we have signed up to hold the event again in 2016 and 2018.”

Mixed arable and cattle farmer Andrew Walton, of Middleton St George, said: “It is a great venue as it is so accessible from the A66, and the range and variety of machinery was very impressive.”

Visitors were also able to talk to a range of equipment experts manning 35 stands exhibiting the very latest machinery designed to aid the professional and domestic markets, as well as attend demonstrations and seminars.

Equipment ranged in value from a few pounds to £500,000, as every aspect of machinery and equipment was showcased to professionals and members of the general public.

Everything from top-end New Holland tractors, some of which were fitted with the latest in satellite navigation, allowing for precision farming, to domestic lawnmowers was on show.

Soil Quest was on hand as well to discuss land quality issues, and cultivation machinery expert Vaderstad showed off its latest technology.

Lloyd also exhibited a range of lawnmowers, including Toro and Honda, for the domestic garden and high-end grass care associated with golf clubs, estates and sports grounds, with demonstrations to help customers get the best out of the machinery.

Construction machinery was on display, including the latest equipment from Bobcat and Doosan, including diggers and skidsteers.

Lloyd celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Founded in 1964 by Cumbrian farmer Ralph Lloyd, it now employs up to 250 staff in seven branches across the North of England and southern Scotland, including Newcastle, Bishop Auckland, Carlisle and Penrith.

“The show proved to be a great way to celebrate our landmark year and we are looking forward to getting some feedback from customers so we can make it better still,” said George. “In the meantime, we are always here to look after our clients’ every need.”
