REPAIRING damaged soil structure is the subject of three free farm events early next month.
James Bretherton, independent nutritionist and soil enthusiast from Lancashire, will lead the meetings organised by The Farmer Network and DairyCo.
The very wet conditions of the past few years has resulted in soil damage in many fields caused by grazing animals, silage-making and slurryspreading equipment.
The dry summer has shown where this damage has affected grass growth and quality and provided ideal conditions for fixing the damage.
The meetings are at Greystone House, Kings Meaburn, Penrith, on Tuesday, September 2, from 10.30am-1.30pm, including lunch.
On Wednesday, September 3, they will be at The Gill, Dalston, from10.30am-1.30pm, including lunch; and at Hall Beck, Killington, Kirkby Lonsdale, from 7.30pm- 10pm, including supper.
