THE final 2014 Lleyn Sheep Society sale at Skipton mart finished on a high for TA & J Swinbank, Brafferton, Darlington, who sold five shearling ewes at the leading price of £190/head to Bankcroft & Co, Blackburn.
Among the rams, C Leckonby , York, paid the 900gns top price for a Luest ram bred and sold by E&D Jones, Machylleth, and 700gns for Tacho Carneddau, from WJ & DJ Williams. D & SK Crane, Thirsk, paid 800gns for the champion ram - Brightonhouse Classy - from T & B Fort, Steeton, who earlier sold three pens of shearling ewes for £186 a head, the second highest price for ewes.
Averages: Shearling ewes to £190 av. £163.91; ewe lambs to £140 av. £95.69; shearling rams to 900gns av. £480.05; aged ram to 350gns av. £367.50.
