DAVID and Penny Evans of Tree Bridge Aberdeen-Angus, Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, celebrated a sale of 5500gns for their prize winning Aberdeen-Angus bull, at the society’s official autumn sale at Stirling.

The March 2013-born Tree Bridge Presley is by Abberton Dazzle out of the home bred Tree Bridge Polly Pride.

He was supreme champion at the 2013 North East England Calf Show 2013, and this year won the progeny pairs competition at the Great Yorkshire Show as a yearling bull and won the yearling bull class at the Society’s junior national championships at the Livestock Event, NEC. He was reserve champion at Westmorland and supreme champion at Stokesley Show.

Mr Evans said: “Presley has been a stand out from a young age and we’ve been pleased with his growth, natural fleshing, locomotion and breed character, so much so that we have taken semen off him. Coupled with this breed character is a great set of performance figures, including a self replacing index of +50 and a milk figure of +11.

Having stood third in a strong class in Stirling, he then sold to noted suckler calf and commercial producer Terry Coghill, Orkney.

n Another pedigree breeder attracted top prices at Stirling.

Rigel Pedigree, owned by Messrs Pye from near Yarm, took the top two leading prices at the Salers Cattle Society's sale.

The 2,450gn top price was paid for Beowulf Polled Red Diamond, a four year-old cow with twin polled bull calves at foot. Sired by Rigel Othello Poll ET out of a Beowulf Montana cow, she joined Messrs Gauld, Aberdeenshire.

Mr Gauld also bought the 2011 born cow, Beowulf Polled Cyan also by Othello, and the Casimir sired in-calf heifer Beowulf Polled Red Chapa. Chapa was running with the homozygous polled bull, Rigel Munro Poll.
