THE 6,000gns top price bull at the Charolais breed society's final sale of the season at Carlisle on Friday (November 21) went to one of four successful buyers from Teesdale.

Bassett Icon, the 20 month-old supreme champion by Harestone Dominator out of a home bred dam from Jean Atkinson, Thorpe Bassett, Malton, was bought by JS Gargett, Westwick, Barnard Castle.

Next at 5,200gns was Harestone Imperator, an 18 month old by the 6,000gns Balthayock Aesop from Neil Barclay, Insch, Aberdeen, which sold to P and TL Edmondson, Kirkby in Furness.

Other prices included 4,800gns achieved by Will Oates, Lobley Hill, Gateshead, for Ravensworth Important - an 18 month old by Thrunton Florida - which sold to TJ Lee and Son, Hexham. He then offered 17 month old Ravensworth Indiana, another Florida son, which sold for 4,700gns to A and W Orr, Lanark.

Another 4,700gns bid was made by W and JA Longlands, Birtley, Hexham, for Millbridge Iceman, a 17 month-old Thrunton Voldemort son fromJudith Hunter, Wigton.

Two entries made 3,800gns. Gretnahouse Interval, an 18 month- old Blelack Digger son from Alasdair Houston, Gretna Green, sold to S Richardson, Marwood, Barnard Castle, and Thrunton Hornblower, a rising two year old Balmyle Dickler son from the Campbell family of Thrunton, Alnwick, which sold to Telfer Bros, Capheaton, Newcastle.

The Campbell's also sold Thrunton Ivan, a 21 month old by the 22,000gns Newhouse Bigal to Dowson and Sartin, Lartington, Barnard Castle, for £3,500gns. They then topped the female section at 3,000gns with Thrunton Hacienda, a two year old in calf heifer by Ugie Eros which sold to D Smith, Staindrop, Darlington.
