A FREE update on the Common Agricultural Policy takes place at Durham County Cricket Club, Chester le Street, on Wednesday (10).

It will focus on the 2015 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS), the new CAP application process, preparing land for sale and contract farming agreements.

Organised by H&H Land and Property the speakers include Simon Lunniss, head of stakeholder relations at the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) who will focus on applying for BPS online and using the new CAP application service, while Andrew Jamieson, agricultural advisor for H&H Land and Property, will cover CAP reform updates and the 2015 Basic Payment Scheme.

John Davison, solicitor and managing partner of Swinburne Maddison, will focus on a range of land issues that can be applied in respect of property sales and borrowings or simply protecting landowners and farmers assets. Emma Glover and Peter Millar, from Rowlands Accountants, will discuss contract farming and their documentation.

David Quayle, North East director of H&H Land and Property, said: “We have found from feedback over this year that many farmers have benefited from our CAP update seminars, so we are keen to round the year off by helping people plan for the future.”

The seminar is at 6pm for 6.30pm followed by a hot buffet. To reserve a seat at the seminar contact Janice Dutton on 0191 370 8530 or email janice.dutton@hhland.co.uk.
