FOXHILLFARM Infinity, a February 2013 born maiden heifer from the Alford's of Devon sold for the 8,000gns top price at the 2014 Red Ladies Derby at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, (Dec 12).

Sired by the 22,000gns Hartlaw Excaliber and out of Bankdale Chanel she was crowned overall supreme champion at the earlier pre-sale show and was bought by Thor Atkinson of Newland, near Ulverston.

Poolehall Isabelle, the reserve overall champion from Mr and Mrs N Matthews, Bridgnorth, sold to MD Davis, Co. Longford, for 7,000gns.

Willie Barron, Burnhope, County Durham, had a successful event. Sarkley Fayme, a July 2010 born cow sired by Wilodge Vantastic and out of Sarkley Maggie, sold Pd'd in calf to the 40,000gns Mereside Godolphin to JJ&BD Comer, Swindon, who bid 3,600gns.

In the following Limousin weaned calves sale his January-born Barrons Jell made the top bull calf price of 4,800gns when sold to WE Swales & Sons, Balk, Thirsk, and his heifer calf Barrons Jess sold for 3,000gns to DF Whiteley, Scawton, Thirsk. Jess was the first calf offered for sale by Mereside Godolphin and was out of the Sarkley Volvo daughter, Barrons Cherub.

Meanwhile Hughes Bros Construction from Stockton, bought seven Red Ladies and four weaned heifer calves for their Brasscastle Herd of 100 pedigree cows which run alongside 100 commercials on their farm near Stokesley.

Their leading price was 3,500gns paid for Beachmount Imogen from K & C Knox, Co Fermanagh. November 2013-born, Imogen is by Wilodge Cerberus out of the Sympa daughter Beachmount Ebony.

They also paid 2,700gns for Bassingfield Hellena from John Crofts, Nottinghamshire. By Wilodge Vantastic, Hellena is an embryo calf out of the French dam Dolly and was sold PD’d in calf to Oxygene. They also paid 2,500gns for Allanfauld Icon from Archie MacGregor, Glasgow. Born in January 2013, Icon is by Wilodge Tonka and out of Allanfauld Fame and sold having run with the Irish-bred stock sire Knockcroghery Hero.

John Murray, Tow Law, was bid 4,000gns by G&W Halliday, Lockerbie, for the February-born Haneve Jester, a son of Powerhouse Elite out of the Haltcliffe Doctor-sired Haneve Goldie.
