CUMBRIAN farmers and landowners are being given the opportunity to quiz some of their local parliamentary candidates on key rural issues.
The CLA North is organising a hustings event at the Westmorland County Agricultural Society Offices, Crooklands, Milnthorpe, on Tuesday, February 24, from 4pm to 6pm.
Answering questions will be John Bateson, Labour candidate for Westmorland & Lonsdale and former Mayor of Kendal: Tim Farron, Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland & Lonsdale; and Jon Stanley, UKIP candidate for Westmorland & Lonsdale.
CLA North Regional Director Dorothy Fairburn said: “This election is shaping up to be unlike any other in recently history and every vote will count. The rural economy could play a key role in deciding our future destiny - particularly here in Cumbria.
“Everyone who lives and works in rural areas should make the most of their vote and this is a great opportunity to quiz some of the candidates on their rural credentials.”
Anyone wishing to attend should submit their question to the CLA North regional office by email to: north@cla.org.uk by noon on Friday, February 20.
