Young Farmers' Club reports

BARNARD CASTLE

This week, members attempted to make pancakes. However, most ended up on the floor or being thrown at each other! Next week’s meeting is the county pantomime at Sedgefield Parish Hall. CATTERICK

Thanks to Lou Wilkinson for last week’s energetic Zumba meeting that was thoroughly enjoyed by the members. Next week’s meeting is rally entries night at Hackforth Village Hall at 7.30pm. Could members take along their booklets and an idea of what they would like to do at the rally.

ELWICK

This week’s meeting was our social evening at The Three Horse Shoes. Members, friends and family enjoyed the evening, which included a raffle and quiz. We raised £89 on the raffle for our chosen charity – Teenage Cancer Trust. Next week’s meeting is a visit to watch the county pantomime performance of Goldilocks and the Three Cows at Sedgefield Parish Hall. It is £5 on the door which will include food. GREAT SMEATON

All members enjoyed last week’s meeting with some impressive slow gin entrants and cocktails produced on the night. Tonight, the club is attending Darlington Fire Station at 7.30pm. Next week is the club’s annual dinner dance, therefore there will be no meeting. Could members ensure they have paid Tom for any tickets they have bought.

INGLEBY CROSS

This week’s meeting was a trip to Mole Valley Farmers at Piercebridge. Thank you to all the team at Mole Valley for giving us an interesting talk and for putting on a buffet for us afterwards. Next week’s meeting will be rally entries. Meet in the hall at 7.30pm. It is the Catterick Young Farmers’ hypnotist night at Hackforth Village Hall tonight. The cost is £8 to include a pie and peas supper. Anyone interested in taking part in the Yorkshire YFC tenpin bowling competition on March 1 at Selby, should give their names to Emma by Friday.

STAINDROP

On Monday night, members met at Mr and Mrs Medd’s, preparing for our muck chuck on Sunday. Members should meet at Winston Village Hall at 10.30am on Sunday. Next week’s meeting is CDFYFC’s pantomime – Goldilocks and the Three Cows – starring our chairman, secretary and other members. Meet at Sedgefield Parish Hall at 7.15pm, curtain-up is at 7.30pm.

STOCKTON

On Monday, it is pancake-making at the Wilson Centre, Long Newton, at 7.45pm. Everyone is welcome but take your own toppings. On Tuesday, it is the county pantomime at Sedgefield Parish Hall. On Wednesday, it is the county quiz round two at Staindrop at 7.30pm for juniors. A quiz for seniors is to follow. The annual quiz is on Saturday, March 28, at the Wilson Centre, at 7.30pm, with the first round at 8pm. Teams can be of up to eight people. The cost is £6.50 per person to include a pie and peas supper. A trophy is to be won. For more details about events or to order tickets, call Caroline on 07533 783814.

STOKESLEY

Monday’s meeting is a brewery talk at Pinchinthorpe Hall, with the time to be confirmed. The deadline for letting us know if you want tickets for our 85th anniversary ball is tomorrow. Call Jenny Chapman on 07568 076307 to book.

Our next meeting is on Monday at Thornton Rust Village Hall. We will be cooking pancakes and going through the hand book for the rally. Any new members are welcome.
