NORTHUMBRIAN beef and sheep farmers are invited to the launch of a new grazing discussion group which will be supported by Eblex.
The group will be led by Rhidian Jones, of SAC Consulting, and guest speaker at the launch event at 7.30pm in The Plough, Alnwick, on Thursday, March 12, will be Charlie Morgan from Grassmaster Ltd, who will share his wealth of practical experience of grassland management and grazing systems.
Afterwards anyone interested will be able to sign up to the group and the first on-farm meeting will be arranged.
The Northumberland group follows the success of other regional groups supported by Eblex in which members have learnt from one another’s experiences, challenged each other and identified best practice, to the benefit of all involved.
Mr Jones said: “In recent years there has been a lot of interest in better management of soil and grassland. The missing link in the chain is how to utilise more grass through better grazing management.
“Many farmers are already practising grazing systems that enable more grass to be utilised and as such reducing production costs and maintaining or even improving livestock performance. The grazing discussion groups will help producers to take their production from grass to the next level.”
Producers can also subscribe for free to the Eblex Grazing Club, which offers a monthly e-newsletter full of specially created information, top tips and case studies, plus webinars, on-farm events and teleconferences.
