FOUR members of Easingwold Young Farmers Club ventured across the channel for an insight into the world of agricultural machinery.

James Edgar, Guy Elsworth, Gemma Newby and Joe Quinn were among 28 young farmers from the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) , who went on the French study tour. With support from Defra, the trip included an exclusive tour of the headquarters of Massey Ferguson and Kuhn Farm Machinery. – both are leading innovators in farm machinery, producing everything between them from ploughs to combine harvesters.

Members were also given the opportunity to visit Paris and explore the historic city of Reims, an area renowned for champagne production.

Gemma Newby, Easingwold YFC chairman, said: "The trip was a fantastic opportunity for our members who were successful enough to obtain a place. We feel we have learnt so much from the visit and that it has really broadened our views and knowledge in this part of the agricultural sector. It’s just one of many exciting opportunities that being a YFC member can reward you with."

Russell Carrington, chairman of NFYFC’s Agriculture and Rural Issues Steering Group (AGRI), Russell Carrington, said: “This tour to France was a brilliant opportunity for YFC members to broaden their knowledge of agricultural machinery and learn about technological advancements within agriculture. We sincerely hope that all of our Young Farmers who attended picked up some vital information that they can take back with them to their respective counties.”
