Young Farmers' Club reports

BARNARD CASTLE

This week, members met at Marwood Hut, where we decided on our rally day entry’s for the county rally day in May, as well as having a visit from the county’s efficiency judges. Next week’s meeting is a mock auction at Russell’s in Northallerton, could members meet at the post office, in Barnard Castle, on Monday, March 9, at 6.30pm. CATTERICK

Last week’s meeting was a very interesting look around Sam Turner’s at Northallerton. Thanks to the Turner family for their hospitality. Next week’s meeting is a tour around Wagg foods at Thirsk. Meet there at 7pm or 6.15pm at Booth Hall. Volunteers are also required for Catterick Market on March 22, so could members be prepared to do an hour each.

ELWICK

This week, it was a business meeting when we discussed past events. Members also went through the entries for this year’s rally, which will be hosted by Stockton YFC. Let Emma know numbers for the visit to Thorntons at Dalton Park on March 31. Good luck to everyone who is representing County Durham at the Northern Area Weekend hosted by Northumberland at Hexham. If anyone has any queries about the weekend, call Katie. Next week’s meeting is a talk by an auctioneer – family and friends are welcome. Meet at the WI Hall, Elwick, at 7.30pm. INGLEBY CROSS

This week’s meeting was a trip to Waddingtons Buildings at Brompton-on-Swale. Thank you to Dave, Andy and Josh for showing us how the buildings are designed and manufactured. Also thank you to Adele Hamer for coming to visit us from the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers. Next week’s meeting is a juniors’ night. All junior members in the Cledales District are welcome to attend. It will be held at the village hall at 7.30pm.

NORTHALLERTON

Thank you to everybody who came to the craft night last week. Also thanks to Mrs Brekon for helping us make wonderful Mother’s Day cards. Next week’s meeting is stock judging at Brian Phillips at 7.30pm. Meet at the Applegarth at 7.15pm. The coffee morning is on March 22, in the downstairs of the town hall, when there will be tea coffee and scones, a tombola, bric-a-brac and a cake stall. Look out for the mascot! Doors open from 9am to noon.

REETH

This week,it was the annual meeting at The Buck. Many of the roles have remained the same with Michael Waggett still chairman and Nigel Waggett and Kate Hodgson as joint secretaries. Membership forms need to be sent by the end of the week in order to be able to compete at the rally. Fill them in as soon as possible. Our domino and whist drive will be held Friday, March 20, at Reeth Memorial Hall.

STOCKTON

On Monday, it is rally entries at 7.45pm at the Wilson Centre, Long Newton. If you would like to enter rally day, try and attend so that we can get the entries sorted. On Saturday, March 28, it is the Big Quiz at the Wilson Centre, at 7.30pm, with the first round at 8pm. The cost is £6.50 per person to include a pie and peas supper.
