Reports from the Young Farmers' Clubs for Catterick, Elwick, Great Smeaton, Ingleby Cross, Masham, Sedgefield, Stockton, Stokesley and Wensleydale

CATTERICK

Thanks to Wagg foods for last week's eye-opening tour around their pet food factory at Dalton. Next week's meeting is bowling at Newton Aycliffe, with the time still to be confirmed. Anyone interested in doing a tug of war practice on Sunday night, ask Alex Chapman.

ELWICK

This week’s meeting was a talk by a local auctioneer from Darlington Mart, Andrew Armstrong. He gave us an insight into his job and the future of Darlington Farmers' Auction Mart. Well done to all members that represented County Durham at Northern Area at the weekend. Next week’s meeting is a talk on India where our efficiency judges will also be present. GREAT SMEATON 

Thank you to everyone who came to our annual dinner dance a few weeks ago, a great night was had by all. Could everyone take their handbooks and ideas of what they would like to do for the rally to tonight's rally entries meeting. Meet in the village hall at 7.30pm. If you are unable to attend, send your apologies. Well done to all members who attended Northern Area at the weekend.

INGLEBY CROSS 

This week's meeting was a junior night in the hall. Thanks to Debbie from Yorkshire Young Farmers, and Northallerton and Thirsk for coming to the meeting. Also thanks to Paul Bramham and Ralph and Jennifer Pattinson for providing some beef judging practice for our members last Thursday. Details of next week's meeting will be sent out via text. MASHAM

Last week, we had an excellent meeting dairy judging by permission of Metcalfe farms. Thank you to Phillip Metcalfe for taking the time to teach us about judging dairy cattle and for the excellent spread provided by the family. Well done to to Adam Dent and Vicky Verity for coming first with their placings and thank you to James Robinson for giving a demonstration on reason-giving. Our annual meeting is to be held at the White Bear, Masham, at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 26. Could all members attend. SEDGEFIELD

This week, members planned their summer programme and looked at rally entries. There will be no meeting next week.

STOCKTON

Our next meeting is on Monday, March 23, and is a practice mock auction at Harpington Hill, Mordon, Stockton-on-Tees, TS21 2HA, at 7pm. On Saturday, March 28, it is the club's big quiz, taking place at the Wilson Centre, Long Newton, at 7.30pm with the first round at 8pm; there is a maximum of eight in a team. The cost is £6.50 per person to include a pie and peas supper. Contact Caroline on 07533783814.

STOKESLEY

Thank you on behalf of the club to everyone who attended our anniversary ball. We raised more than £3,000, with the final figure to be confirmed. Next week's meeting is to be confirmed.

WENSLEYDALE

 We had a good night stock judging at Hawthorne Farm on Monday night. The results were. – Dairy judging: 1 Ethan Scarr; 2 Sam Clarkson; 3 Tom Dinsdale. Sheep judging: 1 Craig Woof; 2 Ethan Scarr, Sam Clarkson & Edward Durham. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Dinsdale for hosting the evening, and thanks to Mr M Harrison for judging the dairy cows for us. Our next meeting is on Monday at Carperby Pavilion for Rally choices at 7.30pm.
