The pre-sale champion, a 16-month-old British Blue cross heifer from T and C Smith, Startforth, secured the top price of £2200 at Darlington Farmers Auction Marts’ Big Bank Holiday show and sale of store cattle.

Picking up the reserve honours was a 15-month-old Limousin cross steer from GC and KJ White and Son of Rigg, which later realised £1580.

Outwith the show, steers averaged £1166 with heifers cashing in at £1120.

Aberdeen-Angus cross steers from RJ Bradshaw of Hawthorne, Ellerby, realised £1520, whilst a pair of British Blue heifers from D and M Lowes, Barningham, achieved £1580.

A pair of Texel lambs from Michael Hogg, The Brae, led the store sheep at £119.
