PLANS have been submitted to North Yorkshire Council by the owners of Akebar Farm to allow them to create a shop and cafe.
The plans involve the demolition of existing agricultural buildings with the replacement of a general purpose building to create a farm shop, selling locally-sourced produce from the Yorkshire Dales.
Akebar Farm, at Patrick Brompton, near Leyburn, run by Fred and Olivia Moore, intend to buy goods directly from farmers in the area wherever possible.

There will be an onsite cafe specialising in coffee, homemade cakes, salads and light meals; as well as a butcher’s counter selling locally sourced meat. Alongside food and produce there will be several attractions including children's playgrounds and a dog exercise area.
The couple aim to minimise single use plastic, offer plant based alternatives and a strong focus on minimising impact on the planet.
Akebar Farm has been run by Mr Moore's family for two generations, farming a variety of crops, limousin cattle, sheep and then expanding to Akebar Park LTD, a caravan park, pub and golf course.
Akebar Park LTD has been in separate ownership to the farm since 2014.
