CLEVELAND Mountain Rescue Team will be helping with the traditional Santa Sleigh Run through Great Ayton on Wednesday.

The arrangements for this year will be different to previous years owing to Covid-19 restrictions. The sleigh will not be making regular stops to hand out presents to children and no cash donations will be taken on the night.

Donations will be online only via the mountain rescue team’s website with all proceeds going to support the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum in Great Ayton. Details are available at www.clevelandmrt.org.uk.

To help keep track of Santa during his run, the team has specially commissioned an online tracker from local company iTCHYROBOT. The tracker will be going live on the day and can be accessed from the team’s website.

Santa’s sleigh ride will get underway at 5.30pm and will be escorted by a team Land Rover but fewer team members will be present this year and there will be no collection buckets.

Everyone is asked to stay in their household bubbles and to maintain all social distancing guidelines in force at the time.
