AN AMATEUR photographer from Wensleydale has been shortlisted for a national award.
As an outlet for his creative side, Neil McNair who runs the Low Mill Guest House in Bainbridge with his wife Jane is an enthusiastic and improving amateur photographer.
With much to see and capture locally in the last three years and particularly during the current climate he has upped his photography efforts.
Now after entering an image he took at last year’s Muker Show in the British Photography Awards he has passed the first hurdle and is shortlisted for the next round of public voting and judging.
The completion is run as an open, responsible contest aimed at celebrating photographic talent from all British and British-based photographers. Mr McNair’s entry entitled “Showtime in Muker” is a close-up of a sheep handler with his prized Swaledale.
He explained: “It was a terrible day and although I took quite a few pictures, that’s the one I liked and decided to enter.
“I was amazed to be shortlisted as the entrants are mostly professionals so it is an achievement to be shortlisted for the people’s choice. I have received a lot of support already.”

Voting closes on January 3, 2021.
