POLICE sadly found a body near to Captain Cook’s Monument following a report concerned for the safety of a woman in Great Ayton.
At around 9pm on Saturday April 17, North Yorkshire Police received the report and officers attended an area near to Captain Cook’s Monument along with Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team.
Sadly, the body of a woman in her 20s was located in the area in the early hours of Sunday April 18.
A police spokesman said: "The woman’s family have been informed.
"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report will be prepared for the coroner for an inquest at a later date."
