A SOUTHAMPTON church wall has been destroyed following a crash last night.
The outside wall and gate at St James' Church by the Park in Shirley has been demolished after a driver crashed into the church gate at 1.49am this morning.
The driver, a woman in her 20s who is thought to have suffered injuries to their ribs, left her contact details under the church door.
She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The church, on St James Road, said in a post on Facebook: "Please do pray for the person who accidentally crashed their car into one of the church gate posts last night - they suffered a couple of broken ribs.
"They were very honest and left their phone number on a note under the church door."
A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: "We were called at 1.49am to a report of a single vehicle collision in St James’ Road, Southampton.
"A Kia Picanto collided with a church wall causing damage.
"The driver, a woman in her 20’s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries."
