Heifers from Robbie and Margo Scott's Nethervalley Holstein herd from Tarbolton, Ayrshire, led the way at a joint sale of dairy cattle at Carlisle, securing the three top prices.

The Nethervalley Summer Sensation sale, staged alongside the Border and Lakeland club event, was topped at 3500gns for the red and white heifer, Nethervalley Rager Elegance Red. Bred from the first three generation Ex96 pedigree in the world, with her third dam being the Ex96-5E LP50 11* cow, Forte Cs Elegance, this 14-month-old heifer sold to Messrs Esquierdo, Cumnock, Ayrshire. She is by Ri-Val-Re Rager-Red while her dam is the VG88 SP Forte Dj Elegance.

The next lot in the ring, Nethervalley Crushtime Babybird, then made 3000gns when selling to Bryan Donald, Welton, Carlisle. A similarly aged heifer, she is by Col DG Crushtime, and out of the Ex91 classified, Clauchlands Blackbird 199 which was bred from the top show cow and Ex95-5E SP LP100 Clauchlands Blackbird 153

Hugh and John Montgomerie, Newlands, Kilmaurs, forked out 2800gns for the 11-month-old heifer, Nethervalley Rager Epic, another by Ri-Val-Re Rager-Red but out of Nethervalley Applicable Elegance VG88-2yr, which is a daughter of the Ex94-6E SP LP80 cow, Bowberhill Lauthority Epic.

Next from the Scotts at 2600gns was Nethervalley King Doc Darlene, a 10-month-old heifer purchased by Robert Steel, Kepculloch, Balfron. She is by Woodcrest King Doc and bred from the VG88 SP Errolston Ransome Darlene, which goes back to Nethervalley and Kepculloch females.

Top price at the Club sale was 2700gns paid for the reserve champion, Stardale Rager Vaakje Red, from J and A Burrow and Sons, Tunsteads, Preston. This fresh heifer by Ri-Val-Re Rager-Red, and out of Stardale Shannon Vaakje Red, is bred from 10 generations of Ex or VG cows and sold to Messrs Talbot, Riverside, Preston, Lancashire.

Top priced cow at 2600gns was the four-year-old, Errolston Deify Destiny from Brian and Valerie Davidson, Errolston, Gretna. A Bush-Bros Deify 355 daughter out of Nortonhill Ocosmo Destina, she was purchased by Peter Sharp, Oakworth, Keighley.

The champion at the pre-sale show, Espland Meridian Amber, from DI and AA Cannon, Espland Hill, Brampton, made 2500gns selling to Messrs Esquierdo, Cumnock. She is by Sully Hart Meridian and out of Espland Lavanguard Amber.
