A popular alpaca event has proven to be such a success organisers are planning more shows for the next few years.

The Northeast and Borders Alpaca Group (NEBAG) is already planning next year's event after a successful return to Hexham Mart on Saturday, November 20.

Crowds enjoyed watching the South American species of camelid mammal as they and their breeders competed in several categories.

"The Northeast and Borders Alpaca Group held our second NEBAG halter show," said Teri White, NEBAG secretary.

"The show hosted in excess of 120 alpacas totalling 27 herds and was greatly supported by breeders.

The Northern Farmer:

"Debbie Rippon, our show organiser, worked tirelessly with a team of NEBAG members to ensure that in these challenging times.

"We - as a local alpaca group - could give breeders and members a friendly and successful halter show, and we personally thought we did.

"The local public showed great support, with attendance numbers up from last year.

The Northern Farmer:

"Judge Barbara Hetherington did a sterling job and awarded many championships, including our supreme champion winners!

"Hannahston Drumnadrochit, owned by Hannahston Alpacas, and our Suri Supreme Champion

The Northern Farmer:

Northwest Suri Flirty Harry, owned by Northwest Suri Alpacas.

"The planning has already begun for the 2023 halter show to take place at Hexham Mart on November 18 and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.

"Thank you to all involved for making the Northeast and Borders Alpaca Group Show a huge success.”
