With generous funding from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, The Farmer Network is now recruiting for its first Northumberland Network role.

The not-for-profit farmer-support organisation has been talking to and working with the Northumberland farming community since 2018 and looking for financial support to enable the creation of a new farmer network. Last month, the National Lottery agreed to fund the project to the tune of £358,574.

Now the Farmer Network is advertising for a project manager/coordinator to take an active part in the roll out and development of the new Network.

The Farmer Network, which is active across Cumbria, the Yorkshire Dales, and has in the past undertaken projects in Northumberland, aims to support farmers, their families and their businesses reacting to every challenge and taking advantage of any opportunities that may be available within the industry.

The organisation is independent and proudly farmer-led encouraging the farming community to work together and support each other.

Managing director Adam Day said: “We are keen to find the right person to help kick-start much of the early development work which now needs to be undertaken prior to the launch planned for later in the year.”

Adam believes that it will be an exciting and rewarding challenge for the new team member as they interact directly with farmers, help build partnerships with companies and organisations and help develop a range of services and benefits to support the farming community. The role will also include the creation, planning and facilitation of future farmer events within the county.

The Northumberland Farmer Network is looking to create a management council of farmers from across the county and take on more coordinators as the Network develops. They will ensure that the Network builds and delivers support to the farming communities, bringing them together where it is most needed.

Information about the new project manager role can be found on the Farmer Network website at www.thefarmernetwork.co.uk/vacancies or by contacting Adam Day directly at adam@thefarmernetwork.co.uk or telephone 01768 868615.
