A WALKER was rushed to hospital after falling near the shoreline of Coniston.
At around 2.25pm on Thursday, Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was asked by North West Ambulance Service to help them with an evacuation at Oxen House Bay on the south west shore of Coniston.
12 members of the team attended to find that a man had tumbled down a steep rocky edge towards the water.
He had suspected multiple injuries requiring the use of the team’s vacuum mattress, which provides a full-body splint.
Once safely on the stretcher and a simple safety rope system put in place, he was carried up to the roadside for his onward journey to hospital.
