Another popular Northumberland agricultural show has cancelled several livestock exhibitions following the "continued spread" of bluetongue disease.
Glendale Agricultural Society has cancelled the Sheep and Goat Section at this Saturday's (August 29) Glendale Show in Wooler.
The decision will also affect alpacas, pygmy goats and the Sheep Show, which had been due to attend the event.
It comes after Bellingham Show announced that its sheep section would not go ahead this weekend following veterinary advice amid recent bluetongue outbreaks in Northumberland.
A spokesperson for Glendale Show said: "It is with great disappointment that, following the recent outbreaks of bluetongue and the continued spread of cases closer to our region, Glendale Agricultural Society has made the difficult decision to cancel the Sheep and Goat Section at Glendale Show 2026.
"This has not been an easy decision, particularly after receiving an outstanding number of entries and seeing the tremendous support for our livestock classes this year.
"However, after careful consideration of the latest veterinary advice and guidance, we believe this is the most responsible and safest course of action for exhibitors, livestock and the wider farming community."
Organisers said all relevant exhibitors and judges would be contacted by email with further information on entries and procedures.
They thanked those who had entered, supported and helped organise the affected classes, adding that livestock welfare remained their "highest priority".
The rest of Glendale Show will still go ahead as planned, including equine and donkey competitions, horticultural and industrial exhibits, trade stands, food and drink, countryside attractions, main-ring entertainment and family activities.
